Chatter is an Enterprise Social Network that allows users to collaborate, interact and share information in real time. Chatter enables employees to collaborate with colleagues and clients, share files and business objects.
« Followers » of a record receive a notification when certain field values are changed and when publications or comments are made on the record. Administrators determine the objects to follow and the fields that will trigger the sending of a change notification. Users can mention other users or Chatter Groups in a chatter post using the “@” notation. They can also create topics to organize posts and comments or gather exchange subjects by using the hashtag topic “#”.
There are 3 types of Chatter Groups: Public Groups (any user can join), Private Groups (Only group members can post and see the posts. Only the group’s owner or managers can invite users) and Private Groups with Customers that allow the invitation and intervention of people outside the company (allows collaboration with partners, clients, etc.).
Chatter completely respects the privacy and security settings for data access defined in the configuration.
A user can join up to 100 Chatter Groups (including archived) and follow up to 500 items. An administrator can create up to 10,000 groups per organization and there are no limits in the number of members per group.
