License
License
Each Salesforce solution user has a license. When subscribing with Salesforce, there are licensing packages that contain 3 types of licenses:
- Salesforce CRM license allows access to all applications, tabs, objects, Chatter (etc.);
- Chatter Free license allows the user to collaborate on Chatter but not on the CRM part. The user can access all Chatter groups, profiles, posts, documents (= full access Chatter)
- Chatter External license is for users outside the company (called customers). They are invited to collaborate in Chatter groups that allow customers (Private Groups with Customers). Customers have access to groups, file sharing and profiles. Access is limited to items and people in the groups customers are invited to.
There are also feature licenses that focus on specific applications or consoles. Ex: ” Service Cloud User” or “Knowledge User” feature licenses allow users who do not need access to the entire CRM to have access to only one part.
Nota:
Users with the Chatter External license can not post publications in profiles, view CRM, or track people or files.
